James is from the UK was born in London into the produce trade; he is of European descent, Portuguese and Spanish on one side and British on the other.

His love of food started at a young age with extensive travelling with his family, he entered the family business of wholesale produce at age 16. The business was a supplier to the catering trade and through a number of contacts James entered the restaurant industry  working first as a kitchen porter in a fast paced London environment.

His love of travel and food took him off overseas at 19 years old where he worked in many kitchens firstly as a prep chef and then he quickly moved through the system. He worked in Europe, the USA, Thailand, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia.

Whilst living in New Zealand he took his qualifications in City and Guilds in a APL (appreciation of prior learning) system and with his wife Syreeta opened his first Restaurant. He went on to open another in New Zealand as well as a catering business. He also qualified as a teacher, taught at Tech and became an assessor for Otago polytechnic.

In 2005 He and his young family left NZ, for Margaret river in Western Australia, where he opened his third Restaurant, he also acted as consultant to other eateries in this region and elsewhere during this time.

In 2008 after selling up, he and his family left to go and find another place to live, they travelled through Europe once more where he worked as a temp in the fine dining industry, then returned to Australia where became  an  executive chef  in Port Douglas.

His travels with his family had him settle in Byron bay where he opened a bakery patisserie for a corporate, before opening a small café in Byron Bay itself and an ocean front restaurant in Lennox Head.

He is now running Allrounders catering as well as operating as head chef in a Bangalow restaurant.

During his career James has won a number of culinary awards, most recently he and his team won the Northern Rivers Sample festival Golden Fork award.
